Engagement Funding from ILCHF

To truly impact health issues facing our state's children, the Foundation knows it must play a number of roles: demonstrate leadership; act as a catalyst for change; engage others; and, leverage outside funding/resources to achieve the most effective results possible in the coming years. The Board of Directors created Engagement Funding as a more flexible stream of funding than regular open RFPs.  Engagement Funding is intended to be for projects with objectives different than the Foundation's RFP funding stream.  It is a vehicle by which the Foundation can support new ideas in the field and culltivate new partners.  While this stream of funding is not exclusive of our main issue areas of oral health, mental health and developmental screening, priority consideration will be given to projects that focus on these areas.  Each year there will be a limited amount of Engagement Funding.

Applying for Engagement Funding

To apply for engagement funding, please contact the foundation staff to obtain an application.  There is no formal deadline to submit an application.  They are accepted and considered for funding throughout the year.  Eligible projects will be able to demonstrate the following:

     - Innovation
     - Support of evidence-based research and/or best practices
     - Potential for statewide system change
     - Impact on children's healthcare in Illinois

There is no specific dollar amount assigned to engagement funding projects, although it is anticipated that most grants will be less than $250,000.

To propose a project for consideration for Engagement Funding, please contact a member of the Foundation's Staff to discuss it.  A  short project write-up may be submitted to assist during the preliminary conversation.
